“MUA: What makeup look are we doing on her?
Director: She doesn’t need makeup, she has to look natural!”
No matter how genetically gifted you may be, everyone needs a little bit of coverage, contouring and highlighting, especially when being photographed or filmed.
Here are My steps for a flawless “No-Makeup” look:
- Wash your face! (Use a facial scrub to remove any dirt and dry skin.)
- Apply moisturiser and a sunscreen. (There are many myths regarding SPF and flash photography, many MUA’s believe it causes a “flash back” on camera.)
- Use a primer for seamless application.
- Cover any blemishes/redness/pigmentation or dark circles using concealer.
- Apply foundation or BB cream.
- Contour and highlight your facial features using bronzer and a highlight cream or powder.
- Set using a translucent powder.
- Sweep blush over your cheeks for a natural flush.
- Lightly fill in eyebrows with an eyebrow pencil or powder, highlight above and below your brow to enhance the arch. (NOTE: Use a white eyeliner and blend well.)
- Apply a base colour over your entire eyelid.
- OPTIONAL: Add a darker colour to your crease for dimension.
- OPTIONAL: Use a black/brown eyeliner to line your eyes or draw a thin line above your upper lashes with a liquid/gel liner.
- Curl lashes using an eyelash curler. (Don’t be scared, I know it looks like a medieval torture device.)
- Apply a coat of mascara or false lashes.
- Line your lips with a nude lipliner for a full sexy pout.
- Apply lip balm or a nude lipstick or gloss.
- Finish off the look with another layer of translucent powder or use a finish spray.
